The traditional Church fete on the Village Green has been a family favourite for many years.
In 2019 the fete will take place on SATURDAY JUNE 1st 2019, starting at 12 noon on the village green outside the Church—follow directions to BH21 5LZ.
Last year was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who came, so we continue with the ‘rustic’ theme throughout the afternoon.
Traditional fete stalls will include the grand Book Jumble in the Church, our famous ‘bric-a-brac stall, hats and accessories, delicious home made preserves and cake stall, coconut shy, skittles, bottle stall, tombola, duck race, and traditional games for children and the young-at-heart.
Wimborne St Giles has a reputation for providing refreshments of a high standard and this year we are pleased to offer a Hog roast, Traditional teas-on-the-green, Ice creams and a Fully licensed bar.
For your entertainment this year, we are delighted to welcome local band of musicians ‘524’. They will be playing 3 times during the afternoon, entertaining you with music from the ’60’s to the present day.
Also, we welcome Linda Bridges from Liberty’s Owl, Raptor and Reptile Centre located near Ringwood. The centre homes a large collection of birds of prey, also a number of reptiles including snakes, lizards and spiders. Linda is bringing a static display of falcons with her and will entertain us with a flying display of these wonderful birds.
We are very pleased to welcome to the fete, for the first time, The Adams Axemen, from Bere Regis. These group of lumberjacks are the best known lumberjack team, who enjoy nothing more than entertaining a crowd! Founded in 1966, they are the longest running lumberjack display team in Great Britain. Members have given displays in Australia,New Zealand,America,Canada and Europe.
The late Reg Adams started The New Forest Axemen, after realising that chainsaws were taking over from axes and cross cut saws for timber work, and thought this was a good idea to keep the old skills alive, by turning it into a competitive sport. In 1987 the family moved to Dorset, Reg decided to change their name to The Adams Axemen. They regularly perform at up to 50 shows a year.
We welcome them to Wimborne St Giles and hope everyone will enjoy watching their skills – and maybe having a go yourselves!
Plenty of parking in the paddocks.
Entry just £3.00 with concessions.
We hope you enjoy your afternoon in WimborneSt Giles!
